A Dollar for Your “Like”

Missing the sky

Remember that picture I posted on that first post. The one from Poland. Check it out if you don’t follow me (click here). Well, it got me thinking that a picture is a mirror for those looking at it. But it is also an extension of our feeling at the moment the blowfish in us clicks.

Can I describe in detail how I was feeling on that day? Possibly. A picture is worth a lot. Now I need to think about creating an artist’s blog. Will this side-endeavor drive me to prove that a picture, a drawing or a splatter are really worth a thousand words, so to speak? More importantly, whose words are they worth? I got this figured out. This blog is a bunch of words with a sprinkle of some pics, so the artist’s blog should be a bunch of pics – preferably artsy, with a sprinkle of some words. Oh, yes, forgot the pic for this post. Here it is:

Take-off

Last flight before airport shut downs

When revisiting my pictures, I am both the person who clicked and the one looking into the mirror. Which one will persist? I keep wondering whether I choose to look at certain images based on how I’m feeling at that particular moment or whether, as I skim through them, they change how I’m feeling. Still working on figuring that one out.

I am worried about this blog. Feelings are parked for the moment as I read the million blogs about how to create a successful blog. I would have thought it was mainly content. But it seems to have a lot more social media related aspects, marketing and stuff. What am I missing?

I thought the laws of attraction still worked in our world? For most things, they do. When going out, we choose a good place that attracts us. When buying something, we compare quality and price. Chemistry ultimately makes the selection. Why does this not seem to apply to blogs? The online world is so big, people do not have the time to check and determine for themselves what’s good and what’s not. We often rely on the amount of traffic to tell us what many are interested in, and this is our fix. Number of likes, visits per day, associations with others, TRENDS, etc… So what I must do is generate traffic to the blog. My “blog of dreams”. If I build it, they will come!

An easy way is to have all my friends visit and contribute a $1 for support. That’s about $5! The next 5 visitors who land here, will each get a dollar. Up to 10 visitors so far. Nope. That’s not gonna work. Lets face it, content does matter. The social media mimics kids at school raising their hands, “Me miss, please, choose me”. Never could understand why raising hands in excitement forces one’s leg muscles to push the body up. So yeah, social media is a “I’m good. Check me out” cry. A lot of good content can go unnoticed, but for how long?

Unlike that plane from where the above picture was taken, this blog might not take-off. For I am not into social media. But what if I can change that? What if the content is good. If content is worthy, it will spread, social media influencer or not. I believe this to be true. Corona has spread despite efforts, extraordinary at times, to cut it off. Not comparing a blog to a virus, but it does show that when the required elements coexist, things will go around. For now, how it would be great for Corona to dwindle to the size of this blog, and this blog to spread like bananas across the world.

Have a great day and stay safe!
